Peer Exchange > Are tablets the future for EMR's

As I hear more and more about standardizing EMR for easy access, does that also mean that tablets like the Ipad or its competitors will become as ubiquitous in hospitals as stethoscopes?

I think that the current crop of tablet PCs are heavy (most are still in the 3-4 lb range) and possess a limited battery life. The iPad is about the right size and weight, and battery life would be adequate, but it lacks a digital pen input and without widespread EMR support it is questionable at the moment

I have to believe tablets will impact health care is a significant way - it is a better and simpler way to edit, create and delete data.
