Peer Exchange > Locating Hospital┬áResources

I am a nurse at a large hospital here in Ontario. One of the issues we constantly deal with is a struggle locating mobile hospital assets (gurney, wheelchair, IV pumps, etc.). I am more frequently reading that modern tech can help if implemented hospital wide. Can anyone offer additional insight or specific technology to deal with this challenge?

In our facility, we use radio frequency devices coupled with a cloud based software to keep tabs on our mobile equipment. I have found it to save so much of my staffs time, prevent "accidental" disappearances and increase patient care and comfort that I am working with my technology provider to come up with additional ways to implement this type of tracking with a broader range of equipment.

Healthcare organizations simply cannot afford to overspend on lost or underutilized assets. There are various technologies from staple vendors (like Cisco) that help to reduce unnecessary waste while being more efficient with time, money and equipment through the use of the hospital's existing infrastructure. The promise of real-time asset location/improved mobile asset management is here!
